Skinlicious Rescue

pretty innit ? my skin has been suffering from the dryness here in vancouver for the past couple of days. it got so bad very rapidly it became very unflattering to see up close the flaking skin and make up that just wouldnt go on smoothly. and so i thought its probably the best time to finally try out that avocado beauty mask recipe that ive seen everywhere.

i looked up "avocado mask" and out of the numerous results there were two common fix. one of which was for dry skin type and the other for normal to oily skin. well which of those i picked didnt really matter cuz i sort of mixed up the ingredients a little bit. the recipe for the dry skin fix calls for avocado, honey, and greek yoghurt. i wish i had plain yoghurt at home. its cuz i didnt, i thought i might just combine some other thats commonly known to be nutritive to the skin. the recipe for the normal to oily skin fix calls for egg whites, so i decided to whip together avocado, honey, and egg white in replace of yoghurt that i didnt have at home. a little bit of brown sugar, and whole milk. spread a thick layer onto my face and let it rest for 20 mins. it was a life saver ! hello soft skin !

the remaining portions of the mask i kept in an air tight container and put in the fridge. gonna use it again tomorrow night. and since avocados are on sale at the neibourhood groceries for $0.50 i might as well try fixing up the avocado hair mask i came across just now !

make yours !

Beautiful British Columbia

is it just me or does it happen to everybody? you know when shower time is thinking time and decision making time?  theres always that one point where all the mind processing gets almost too overwhelming it makes me grumpy and i couldn't stand being in the shower for a second longer i had to get out asap like its torturous. its silly i always rush getting into the shower and also rush getting out of it.

anyway. im on board a flight to vancouver. feels like im developing some sort of phobia, whatever the terminology. this is actually the first time i feel like get me off of this plane please please please. being terribly emotional atm. about half an hour into the flight i flipped through the british glamour and on board magazines. an hour into the flight had a meal. two hours into the flight i watched an episode of national geographic - miracle heal was what its called. didn't like it. and then started talking to my mom who's sitting right next to me right now biting her nails and constantly checking the time. talked about stuff and i guess thats what got me going psycho sitting in this up right uncomfortable seat. tried listening to all sorts of music and it didn't work out. i was gonna open up the sims and get into a bit of simming but it didn't work out. thought simming without a mouse would be stupid enough but its about the only thing id probably enjoy doing right here right now. it goddamn drains the battery to an hour estimate.

im only halfway through this flight. jesus.

Excuse My Personalities

even tho most my friends have nicknames and everybodys been calling everybody by their nicknames since day one, i just dont. or like i almost never. dont get me wrong, i think nicknames are precious, and its precious to be given a nickname. the kind way - not like being called meanie shitty offensive racist sexist names.

i was pretty upset all through elementary school particularly in first and second grade that i didnt have one. i went to a girls school for those two years with 20 other little girls. nicknaming our friends was super fun ! it was ridiculous, we find every name funny and would laugh like idiots all day about them. calling catherine as "catcat" or "rinerine" was ever so lame. (please be reminded that we were 6) i only remember being called inin (ingrid) and that was probably the only nickname id been called. after that i continued to live and respond to people calling me by my given name (which actually is absolutely normal and how it should be). and i continued to feel like i wanted to be called by a nickname until later in fourth grade i realized at some point i didnt give a shit. it was dumb really the whole wanting-a-nickname-for-so-long part of my life. but nonetheless it was sad.

i understand how moms would call their children all sorts of sweet adorable names. i do not have hatred over what everyone in my family calls me. it did not evolve from my birth name nor did it have anything to do with my personalities my appearance or whatnot. bobo, and thats that.

i remember telling people that my family calls me bobo. they all find it funny. or at least they must have felt like what the hell thats so weird. i know. for a while i was kind of embarrassed by it. but that was ages ago of course. im okay with everybody calling me bobo nowadays, although it would only feel right being called by my family and boyfriend. one thing im sure - im stuck with my family calling me that.

just googled keywords "personality" + "nickname" and found a whole bunch of pages with short quizzes for finding out the nickname that best suits you. one i did on gotoquiz generated a dozen. and the other one i got from a nickname generator. the results : "(insert 1 syllable here)ums. eg. take the first syllable of your name and add ums..." my new nickname is "inums".

seriously.

Bob's Your Uncle

the world should know about popcorn lovers day. if you think its lame, it makes much more sense than  "if pets had thumb day" and "panic day" (tomorrow). dont get confused tho ! it is different from national popcorn day which is on january 19. check out the popcorn board ! the bit of popping sound effect on their homepage is just so fun.
this popcorn lovers day is on the second tuesday of march. i was looking at this page holidayinsights and learned that it was created in january by Bob Matthews of Rochester, NY. just two months ago !
so believe it or not, we are among the first bunch of popcorn lovers celebrating to this so very honourable occasion in all of history !

so heres to you, bob !

this is true.
oh the buttery goodness, the puffiness... popcorn reminds me of going to a carnival. and good popcorn makes me want to go see a movie ! only 10 out of 10 times theyre half gone by the time the trailers are done showing.

while i havent done any research on the most loved flavour, i believe its the good old original butter. i also love chocolate and caramel popcorn. theyre mostly extra crunchy ! and i have a hard time deciding on sweet or savoury every time in the queue...

oh and while we're at it. i would so totally give these a try !
i mean, who doesnt love bacon ? they are available on fredflare for $7, if not along the aisles of safeway. bacon popcorn and a movie on the couch. thats what i wish id be doing.

if you havent already seen this. u should.

i know i know. whats the use. but im getting it on my phone. just in case i have a bunch of kernels lying around.

Through Your Lens

and if i could,
i would travel with my camera,
to hop on a train.
to take pictures at stops we make.
to have coffee on streets we break.
to makes sketches of things in a journal we bring,
and record our laughter
or videos of songs we would sing.

and if you would,
come travel with me my camera.
we'll hop on a train.
experience the culture, breathe the air,
listen to the streets, observe the people,
and drink wine
of a different place.

with you
i will capture the lights the sillouettes the smiles
and picture the life
of our different days...
